More exciting changes for CWLA!

CANAL WINCHESTER LACROSSE ASSOCIATION AWARDED FIRST STICK GRANT!
In March of 2018 CWLA, applied for a US Lacrosse First Stick Grant and as the season was winding down in mid-May we were informed that we had been awarded one of the grants.  The grant includes enough equipment for a new team and will be instrumental in bringing new players into the high school team next fall. The equipment will be loaned out to new CWLA players free of charge on a first come first serve basis. Returning players are expected to have their own equipment but loans will be made if equipment is available.  The value of the grant is approximately $7,000.

Equipment in the grant includes: 20 field sticks, 1 goalie stick, full protective equipment for 20 field players and 1 goalie (gloves, arm guards, shoulder pads, helmets).

Private Lacrosse Conditioning Training
Coach Henry from our Middle School Team is offering personal training to help players work on footwork and conditioning. He’s offering 1/2 -hour sessions and will supply all equipment needed other than a stick. The training will help players better themselves for lacrosse as well as other sports given the movements are used in multiple sports. The goal is to have our athletes respond better to adverse situations and still be able to gain control of the action on the field. The charge is $20 a session. He’ll coordinate a location (fields at the middle school or elementary, a Metro Park, etc.) that works best.

Coach Henry has been a personal trainer since 2015 working with both children as young as 7 and adults alike. He’s been coaching youth sports since 2000. Pairing his experience as a player and coach of multiple sports, along with his personal training knowledge, he’s in a unique position to train athletes on situations they will more likely be in during a game. As an added bonus he likes to use boxing as a great cardio tool and device to enhance hand eye coordination. Sessions can be held after work during the week or weekend mornings, weather permitting.

Coach is looking forward to an opportunity to work with athletes of all ages and skill levels. He will produce results that will echo positively throughout their athletic careers.

Contact Coach Henry via email at  [email protected] or cell 614-354-5778.
